Helping Hands

August 22, 2019

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;  and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?”  Matthew 7:9

thank you
for your grace,
for a wide open space
to play,
for helping hands
gathered in the studio.

thank you
for the heart
of Max,
for the laughs
he brings,
for giving us new
a new song
to sing
in ice cream.

thank you for his grace
for his un-rushed pace
for the way he faces
one direction
in the studio,
his back to the window,
his eyes on the door
his mind
open to tasting
and seeing that
the Lord is good.

thank you, Father
for leading him home.
for letting us see
that when your children ask
for bread,
you do not give
them stone.

Amen.

In the photo below, the piece on the left, “Play Guilt Free” is a 9 x 12 mixed media on wooden panel, and is currently for sale in Highland Galerie or on my website. Click on the photo below to go to this painting on my website.. Max’s piece, “Taste and See” is on the right. The letters in the ice cream spell INRI, which are the letters Pilate wrote over Jesus on the cross. It means “King of the Jews”. The girl in the painting is “tasting” of her savior and seeing that He is good. This piece is not for sale, but he has many other beautiful pieces for sale at HIghland Galerie and on my website. He also takes commissions, and is currently working hard on a series of nativities and wisemen for the Fall show.
