Play Tea Cup Collage

You are Invited to a Tea Party for the Queen

April 07, 2020

Dear girls.

The way others play may not always be your cup of tea.  But from what I have seen, accepting invitations to play in different ways than my own tends to open the mind to new points of view and fun things to do.

I don’t really like painting in oils but I paint in oils when your grandmother offers to take me to oil workshops because I enjoy spending time with her. I don’t like to play pretend but I am glad I spent hours on the floor playing pet store and house with each of you. It brought me joy to know that you enjoyed it. I don’t particularly like to go see plays but I would have missed some amazing performances if I had rejected them all.

Know that your friends and elders are not always going to play the way that you do.  But stepping into the way that others play is a way to say I love you. The art of play is meant to assemble and connect God’s people not to take anything away from you.

Of course, there are invitations we must decline but you never know where you might shine if you don’t try new things.  So the moral of the story is this; Every once in a while let someone pour you a new cup of tea. You might just find that there’s mercy and joy at the bottom of that cup.

Love,

Mom

Below I have attached a free printable tea cup coloring page. I am encouraging children and adults to use these as a way of sending encouragement to the queen as we pray for the prime minister and healing for their nation as well. If you want to share your finished coloring page with the queen, just post on your social media accounts and tag @theroyalfamily on Instagram and The Royal Family on Facebook.
