Why Milk and Honey?
"He brought us to this place and gave us this land,
a land flowing with milk and honey." Deuteronomy 26:9
The name Milk and Honey Collective was birthed through a long arduous season of waiting for the promises of God to be fulfilled in the lives of my husband and I. Our story is one of deliverance out of our personal "deserts" and into the "promised land".
The first day of my fortieth year, God whispered to me on the sand of Jacksonville Beach that our time in the desert was coming to an end, that the 40 years were up, and that He was taking us to our promised land, the land of Milk and Honey.
For me, getting to the land of milk and honey meant health and freedom from physical limitations, and for my husband, it meant stepping into his dreams as an entrepreneur. In the past year, God has begun answering those prayers, and I feel the river parting so that we can cross over into our promised land on earth.
As the Israelites entered the land of milk and honey, they gathered stones from the Jordan River and carried them into the promised land to remind the generations to come what God had done. In short, that is the mission of Milk and Honey Collective-to collect stories told through art and writing as a way to tell this generation and the next stories of God's faithfulness. So pull up a chair, and let us tell you a story or two as we journey on toward the land of Milk and Honey.
